A Pursuit of Excellence
Young people achieve mastery across a variety of domains such as science, math and the humanities. They are encouraged to ask questions, seek answers and imagine solutions to simple and complex problems by utilizing systems thinking and the principles of human centered design. Moreover, the Discovery Academy of Innovation provides young people with opportunities to engage in learning experiences that extend far beyond the classroom, using the world as a testing ground for their ideas and innovations.
A Safe and Inclusive Space
Where all participants are encouraged and supported as they take on roles, assume identities, explore, experiment and collaborate in both the social context and the creative context. Integral to this are the values of respect, kindness, mutual understanding and accepting and celebrating diversity.
A Creative Space
Where students and teachers engage in activities of a multidisciplinary character: imagining, creating, reflecting and innovating. Participants assume various roles as they build skills in areas of design, media, technology and the arts. They develop projects both individually and collaboratively, within and across disciplines.
A Connected Space
Where ideas, models and practices, innovations and creations are informed and inspired by, are relevant and meaningful to, and are developed and shared with a wider community whether physical or virtual.
